In February 2014, Russian LGBT-Network launched a new program to support the survivors of hate crimes against lesbians, gays, and bisexual and transgender people, and to LGBT activists suffered because of their activities. As a part of this program, the Network provides legal, psychological, financial and other kinds of help.

In most Russian cities Rainbow flashmobs went quite well, and in St. Petersburg more then 150 people visited the event. However, during or because of the flashmobs the police detained activists from Moscow, Murmansk, Perm and Vladimir.

On May 17th different actions devoted to the International day against homophobia and transphobia took place all over Russia. In most places the demos were successful despite the fact that homophobic groups called on to prevent the events.

An alternative report was sent to the UN Human Rights Committee as an additional source of information to the 7th periodical report, submitted by Russian Federation (CCPR/C/RUS/7). The report was prepared by Kseniya Kirichenko, Legal Assistance Program Coordinator (LGBT Organization “Coming Out”) and Director of the Transgender Legal Defense Project (Rainbow Foundation), and Maria Kozlovskaya, Program Manager (Russian LGBT Network).

On April 11 LGBT activists from Samara organized a demo devoted to the Day of silence. A week later law enforcement officers started to chase LGBT-activists: as a result, one of the activists was accused of participation in the "unauthorized" demonstration, defiance and distribution of leaflets while using “camouflage”.

One month to go to the International Day Against Homophobia & Transphobia 2014 the call to world leaders to respect international law, which protects LGBT free expression, was issued by IFEX, Article 19 and the IDAHO Committee, and with the support of Amnesty International. More then 140 organizations already endorsed the call, and Russian LGBT-Network is among them.

As it was reported earlier, in the beginning of March Russian LGBT Network sent an official letter to the members of the Executive Committee of Hilton Worldwide. In this letter the discriminatory actions of the administration of Hilton Moscow were described. To remind, in the end of February, one day before the events planned by Russian LGBT Network at Hilton Moscow, the administration of the hotel unilaterally cancelled all the agreements and bookings without any official explanation. Despite of numerous requests, no written explanations were given.
